Open Space Inventory

List of Vacant Lots and Open Spaces

The Borough List of Vacant Lots and Open Spaces includes over 500 separate pieces of property. Many are smaller, very unbuildable parcels and a good number are parcels which do not meet municipal standards for square footage.

As of this writing, there no parcels over 5 acres in size that haven't received some kind of construction approvals. The largest open field tracts are controlled by the Board Of Education.

A current list is available by writing the Environmental Commission. A complete list at time of writing may be found here. (If you are unable to view this file, you may need the Adobe PDF Reader.)

Open Space and Recreation Plan, 2008

In Fall 2007 to Summer 2008 the Borough obtained a $15,000 grant from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions to complete a Municipal Open Space and Recreation Plan. This plan documents properties marked for historical preservation, natural conservation, and recreation.

The plan was approved by the Planning Board on July 17, 2008 and approved and incorporated into the Municipal Master Plan by the Borough Council on August 19, 2008. The plan (in Adobe PDF Format) is available here. (If you are unable to view this file, you may need the Adobe PDF Reader.)
